Welcome to our May Luncheon! Our Speaker this month will be Retired Rocky River Municipal Court Judge Donna Fitzsimmons.

\nJudge Donna Congeni Fitzsimmons will speak about her federal prosecution of the reputed head of the Cleveland Mob and several of his subordinates during the time that Cleveland was known as Bomb City USA. As a young federal prosecutor in the U.S. Department of Justice&rsquo\;s Organized Crime Strike Force\, Judge Fitzsimmons obtained\, after a three-month trial in federal court before the legendary Judge John M. Manos\, convictions of all defendants on a variety of charges including murder\, drug trafficking\, RICO conspiracy\, &\; the like. Judge Manos sentenced all but one of the defendants to life in prison without the possibility of parole. After his appeal was denied\, one of the defendants\, Cleveland Mafia boss Angelo Lonardo\, turned government witness and testified against Mafia families in prosecutions in several U.S. \;cities\, including for then -U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York\, Rudy Giuliani\, against the heads of the five Mafia families in New York City in the infamous Commission Trial\, which brought down the five NYC Families. Lonardo was&mdash\;and remains-- the highest- ranking organized crime figure to turn government witness.

\nDuring \; \;the trial of the Cleveland organized crime figures\, Judge Fitzsimmons received a death threat\, which resulted in her being offered around the clock protection. \; \;The Museum of Organized Crime (Mob Museum) in Las Vegas features her ground-breaking work on this case. \; Judge Fitzsimmons has given this presentation to sold-out audiences at The Music Box Supper Club (three times)\, The Union Club\, The Cuyahoga County Justice Center\, the St. Christopher Ladies Guild\, several bar associations\, and numerous other groups.
